Celebrating the Little Things

At Juniper Village the Spearly Center we celebrate the little things with our Restorative Nursing Department. Our dedicated restorative department promotes independence in our residents with active ambulation, restorative dining, walk to dine, individualized exercise, and other programs designed to promote an active body and engaged mind.

The gym is always bustling with residents stretching and exercising to regain or improve their independence.  This is achieved through many different activities such as riding the recumbent stationary bike, playing a wii game to increase range of motion and even dancing in the parallel bars.

The restorative team works closely with our rehabilitation team to ensure that our residents are safe and secure and able to reach their goals and be as independent as possible.  Even the smallest gain in  a resident's progress towards independence is celebrated by staff and other residents as well.  Join us as we celebrate the little things and big successes!

Help Juniper Village Feed Body and Soul

Juniper Village is feeding body and soul this November with our Second Annual Food Drive to benefit the Local Food Pantry. Hunger affects people of all ages and we want to help. You may drop off food from November 1 - 30 at Juniper Village. Local area businesses will also be designated drop off locations. Our goal is to collect 1000 pounds of food for the food pantry. Join us in our efforts to support our local Community. 100% of your donation will stay local.  To inquire about volunteering for the food drive, please call (719) 336-3434.

Stop by Juniper Village to see our progress and warm up with a cup of complimentary gourmet coffee for your donation.

Halloween Faces of Spearly

The Spearly Center celebrated Halloween with a face painter and costumes this year.  The residents and staff really got into the act as clowns, cats, Strawberry Short Cake and even a giant hot dog.

The devils, clowns and cowboys had a karaoke contest and costume parade.  Much to the devil's dismay, it was a clown who actually won the contest.  And of course the cowboys led the parade.

We ended the celebration with beverages and snacks in the coffee house.

It was a spooktacular event that truly shows our Spearly colors and is another way that we are alive in all seasons of life!

Juniper Village at the Spearly Center Woodworking Class

In late September Juniper Village at the Spearly Center  revived their traditional woodworking class.  Our new environmental services director, Dave, has truly taken the lead for this class!  We had nearly 10 residents participate in the first class.  They created beautiful birdhouses which will be placed outside for the winter season.  The birdhouses will be filled with seed and provide a cozy home for our feathered friends.

Residents took great pride in their craftsmanship and enjoyed showing off their hard work.  Dave plans to continue his woodworking classes on a monthly basis.  Our hope is to get more and more residents involved each month.  Check out the calendar and join us anytime  - to see how we are nurtuting the spirit of life at Juniper Village the Spearly Center!

Juniper Village at the Spearly Center focuses on resident centered, individualized care.  One of the ways we do this is through our Spearly Sidekicks program.  Each of our residents is paired with a staff member who serves as their friend and sidekick.  The sidekicks learn about each other and grow together as friends through many planned activities.  Sidekicks are also encouraged to spend some informal time together each week.

In May of this year, we brought in a professional photographer to take some photos of the sidekicks.  At first many of our staff and residents were a little camera shy - but all it took was bringing out a box of fun hats and goofy shirts to bring everyone out of their shell.

We hope you enjoy these photos of the sidekicks as much as we do.  Come on down to the Spearly Center and see many examples of resident focused care as we nurture the spirit of life in each individual we touch.
